HEATING & COOLING

HEATING

Fireplace: The gas fireplace is enough to heat the entire house. To turn the gas valve “On”…simultaneously press the small round button on the end of the valve and turn the valve toward the log (you will hear the hissing sound of the gas coming through). Use a long lighter (inside a bar drawer) and place it under the logs until the flame catches fire. To turn the fireplace “Off” simply turn the gas valve to the “Off” position until the flame goes out.

Furnace: There are 2 thermostats: One is in the hallway on the main level and adjust as needed (there is already a regular schedule in place). The upstairs level is 10 degrees warmer than the main level and you may need to close the vents upstairs and keep the fans on to push the warm air down. If it is really cold, the 2nd thermostat is behind the TV and can be turned on as needed.

COOLING:

Central AC: If it is really hot while you are there (85 degrees or higher), leave the AC on night and day (even if you are not home). We have found the best temperature setting is between 72-74 degrees.

Mail Level AC: The thermostat is in the hallway on the main floor and also controls the vents in the master bedroom upstairs. It is automatically set to 73 during the day and 71 at night.

Upstairs AC (Loft only): The thermostat is behind the TV in the loft and controls the upper level (except for the master bedroom) and is set to the same schedule as the main floor. The upstairs master bedroom stays coolest when the doors are left open.
